This proposal is to support The Brooklyn African Art Book Fair is an inaugural art book fair featuring independent art book publishers from continental Africa and special projects by African diaspora art publishers based in Brooklyn. This project seeks to strength a dialogue bridging continental African and African American art book publishing and introduce New York audiences to a range of independent African art publishers undistributed in the US and underrepresented in global contemporary art. This project will comprise a weeklong series of online programming hosted through a project website culminating in a weekend of in-person pop-up reading rooms and exhibitor tables co-present with the partnering organizations: Pioneer Works, the 1-54 Contemporary African Art Fair, Wendy’s Subway, and Miriam.
