¡Oye! Group is a Brooklyn-based company that serves as an incubator for artists both local and immigrant to New York City. Through original productions and unique festivals, we seek to curate work that sparks dialogue about the political and social issues critical to our community’s growth; this includes immigration, racism, income inequality, gentrification and displacement. We also provide quality arts programming that gives our community tools to generate forward-thinking art. ¡Oye! Group is committed to representing our community, which is made up of primarily Black and Latinx youth and adults, on stage, within our audiences and through the language and topics of our work. Therefore, community partnerships and one-on-one engagements are vital to our organization. At the foundation of all of ¡Oye! Group Programming is what we call the three levels of engagement: education, entertainment, and resources. In addition to free arts classes, we provide free resources to our community in a variety of ways; giveaways of school supplies filled backpacks, halloween costumes, food, and haircuts during our summer arts festival, and daily snack packages with community partners.
