Parachute Literary Arts will present “My New York City” a six-session poetry workshop by poet SM Gray, in which participants explore, reflect, and write about their Brooklyn neighborhoods through memory, observation, and personal stories. Workshops take place at the Brooklyn Public Library’s Coney Island Branch on Mermaid Avenue with priority given to those who live and work in Coney Island. "My New York City" is a poetry workshop exploring self and memory through your city. Participants explore their Brooklyn neighborhoods and draw out hidden or lesser seen stories. What does it mean to really "know" a neighborhood, city, or street? What do you know that others don't?
