This project, Chinese Paper Cutting Art Workshop at Mapleton Library, will be offered for the Brooklyn residents at all age at Brooklyn Public Library, Mapleton Branch during the summer of 2023. In fourteen class series, Master Lu will demonstrate paper cutting, an ancient Chinese art form dating from the Han Dynasty, in this hands-on workshop, participants will learn the basic shape of flowers, animals, and lucky word signs by using paper and scissors. Artist Sharlene Chou will assist Master Lu for the art making workshop in helping the English speakers and tutoring the special needs of the Participants in the workshop. Combined the skills learned from the workshops, participants will be using the material provide by the BAF funds to make final project to join the final presentation at last day and open to the public for view. This project will give the artist MingLinag and Sharlene the opportunities to improve their creative artistic ability to further better serving the Brooklyn Community specially to the younger and older adults of immigrant families; workshop give the artists the platforms to open themself and also allowed them to learn from others though the communications with participants in the workshop.
