The concert series Wide Open Works (WOW), which started in 2007, has provided Brooklyn with events meriting large-scale international attention, maintaining the highest standards in performance and education, presented in a community-based format. The series is run by the non-profit organization Connection Works whose mission is: To engage the Brooklyn community with world-class jazz performances and educational events. Our programs promote and facilitate new work by established and up-and-coming artists alike. We provide a forum that supports the astonishing number of brilliant artists in our borough. We at Connection Works believe in and encourage the practice of creativity as a means to nourish the mind, body, and spirit.. The world-class musicians that perform at Wide Open Works include jazz legends, MacArthur Fellows, ground-breaking luminaries and rising stars. These exceptional and unique events have greatly benefited the community and musicians through deep and meaningful musical experiences with strong community connections.
