Grant Year: 2024
Location: Brownsville

This grant (Brooklyn Arts Fund) supports our entrepreneur workshops to empower young locals and give them the skills, specifically in, resume-writing, videography, photography, and project-proposal writing. Project KB’s mission is twofold: 1) To create environmental and social change by utilizing the creative process to build a sustainable economy through dance education and; 2) To foster and support Brownsville's future creative entrepreneurs. Brooklyn locals are equipped with entrepreneurial knowledge, employment opportunities for artists, cost-free educational opportunities, mental health tools, techniques for creative expression, and employment opportunities that serve to build a sustainable economy for dance. Our organizational values are set and followed through with this overarching mission. At the heart of what we do is community value and providing services that directly benefit the community in which we are working. Another main value of Project.KB is to work in an inclusive and accessible way, especially during the creative process. As an organization, we are actively trying to dismantle and break down the traditional barriers to dance for lower socioeconomic communities. By using radical methods of public participation to share, educate and present new work, while also promoting mindfulness and mental health, we aim to ensure that this value of inclusivity is maintained.

Project.KB is happy to launch and open Studio.KB, a Brownsville-based production and dance space open for local community members and artists to utilize and partake in free dance and entrepreneurship programming. This particular funding allows us to maintain the space by supporting some administrative, electricity, and insurance costs.
