The Free Black Women's Library is a literary hub, social site, Black Feminist archive, reading room, and community care space that centers creativity, community and illustrates the transformative power of books, reading and community.The library features over five thousand books by Black women and Black non-binary folks, a backyard garden, a free store, a period pantry, and a wide array of free public programs. Public programs include writing workshops, crafting sessions, art classes, film screenings, readings, performances, teach-ins, game nights and critical conversations. All ages, races and genders are welcome to use this space to read, write, work, rest and day dream four days a week. It is an inclusive and accessible space created to provide healing, joy, pleasure, safety and inspiration for all beings.
