[community stories] is a series of workshops that will bring the creative processes for [ ], our ongoing multi-media work, into our communities! Since 2021, director-composer Angélica Negrón, director-choreographer Adrienne Westwood and an interdisciplinary team of designers and creatives have been creating [ ]: a sonic-sensory exploration into our femme ancestors. In 2024, with funding from Brooklyn Arts Fund, we are thrilled to launch [community stories] workshops: public offerings exploring the telling of oral histories and family stories through movement, imagery and sound. These workshops will be rooted in the group’s imaginative, multi-sensory approaches to exploring untold histories. We are pleased to finally offer these processes beyond our own artistic team, into the Brooklyn communities where we live and work.
