IndyKids’ mission is to produce a social justice news source that is created by kids, for kids, in order to encourage young people to become informed world citizens. IndyKids produces five issues and podcasts per school year in conjunction with their Kid Reporter Workshops at local schools. IndyKids increases awareness of economic, social, racial and environmental justice by highlighting the stories and perspectives of people of color, LGBTQ+ people, workers, women and immigrant communities. The organization provides cultural enrichment and knowledge of current world events in a way that is engaging and easy for kids to understand.

Through the workshop program, the IndyKids newspaper is created. The paper itself is distributed to hundreds of individuals, teachers, and collectives across Brooklyn, and thousands more nationally and internationally. This provides Brooklyn and the broader audience a free, ad-free, social justice news source that is written by kids, for kids.
