Inspired by legendary playwright/poet Ntozake Shange’s For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide/When the Rainbow is Enuf, Loki Circus Theater’s “The Rainbow is Enuf” tells the stories of seven individuals through circus, dance and original text. “The Rainbow is Enuf” is a modern reworking of an American-theatre classic into a contemporary circus show that illuminates and inspires everyone through the focused lens of the experiences of women of color. With unflinching honesty and emotion, each of us express our story of having to exist in a world shaped by sexism and racism. We use physical theater and circus to elucidate a variety of topics including, Identity, Hair, Patriarchy, Fetishation and Sisterhood. This creation is an ensemble where we embody the grace, struggle and determination of our existence. "The Rainbow is Enuf" is an ongoing development of Loki Circus Theater’s COLORED GRRLS Project.
