"Brooklyn is Not a Sacrifice Zone" is a live theater community-engaged performance created by Al Límite Collective that travels through the streets of Bushwick, Williamsburg and Greenpoint staged upon a bicycle stage platform. It is an educational and community-building performance that illuminates the concerns and resiliency of communities living along the path of built and proposed segments of National Grid’s North Brooklyn Pipeline. The project also highlights the journey of grassroots organizers who committed themselves to the front line struggle against the pipeline and environmental racism at large, through the obstacles of a pandemic, sharing victories and losses along the way. In addition, it provides an audio archive that collects the stories of residents, creating an online forum where others can listen and learn about the challenges in living alongside fossil fuel infrastructure.
