Arts Gowanus supports, promotes, and advocates for artists and a sustainable creative community in the greater Gowanus neighborhood. We nurture relationships among individual artists, arts organizations, local businesses, and the community. We work to strengthen our community fabric and connect diverse groups through the arts. We believe that art and artists are essential co-creators of neighborhood identity, drivers of civic engagement and economic development, catalysts for change, and active participants in public dialogues. We produce open studio events, professional development workshops, public art works, artistic collaborations, and exhibitions, and we are deeply involved in policy planning underway in our neighborhood. Gallery Dispersed, with generous support from the Brooklyn Arts Council (thank you!) will be an exhibition of art printed on vinyl banners as public-art in partnership with Brooklyn Pride Inc and the Old Stone House.
