One Breath Rising has been presenting jazz and poetry events in Brooklyn or online since 2015. We are committed to supporting world class artistry in an intimate setting, and to providing opportunities for artists from diverse cultures - inspired by the African American traditions of improvisation and storytelling - to present, collaborate, and document their work. We are thrilled to present 5 live events in Brooklyn this year in addition to our monthly online programming. These will include performances by jazz ensembles led by multi-reedist Jay Rodriguez with poets EJ Antonio, Cheryl Boyce-Taylor and Robert Gibbons in April; trombonist Craig Harris in June; We Free Strings in July, The Makanda Project large ensemble in the fall; and tenor saxophonist Ras Moshe with poet Patricia Spears Jones in December. In addition, we continue to celebrate our publication of At the Crossroad: The One Breath Rising Anthology of Poetry and Prose.
