Nancy Espinoza-Saleme
I am woman artist of color with an extensive career in the arts as a visual artist and visual merchandiser. I have studied in various schools in great cities like Lima, Caracas, and Łódź. I moved to NYC in 1996 to pursue my studies in sculpting. I have worked independently to build a strong career as an artist and designer, working with different communities on both fronts. I am currently focusing on public art to create works accessible to everyone while exploring different settings such as public libraries, hospitals, and parks where my pieces can reach their full potential.
"Growing into Blossoms" is a 3D art workshop reflecting on climate change. This workshop will focus on channeling the anxiety produced by our current global warming and ecological crisis. Participants will be given various materials to work on designing and creating motifs related to nature. Seniors will learn design basics such as color, composition, drawing, and typography. The workshop will be centered on making Plate Walls with air-dry clay and acrylic paint. Plates and tiles will be shaped from floral, butterfly, and birds’ themes stencils. The program will culminate with an exhibition at the Center, including all participants’ artworks/
