3rd Annual Garba in Brooklyn; A Navartari Performance and Festival This Festival presented by Alisha Desai will take place at Maria Hernandez Park in Bushwick. The festival will include a dance concert of folk and classical dance styles from India, a garba and dandiya raas dance lesson, a dandiya-making station, and a dance party set to the beats of live dholi music. Navaratri is a nine-night festival originally celebrated in India to honor the Hindu Goddess, Durg. Garba and Dandiya Raas are two folk dances from the state of Gujarat and are an integral part of celebrating this holiday.
