STooPS
STooPS provides artistic opportunities and resource sharing in the local community by re-imagining space for public engagement. Our annual STooPS Summer Festival, features an Art Crawl and Block Party where we collaborate with homeowners, organizations and businesses throughout the community to present local artists who perform and present on neighborhood stoops, sidewalks and storefronts. Artists have presented a myriad of genres including dance, music, theater, spoken work, hairdesign, healing arts, and facilitated dialogue, to name a few. The festival has become a cultural staple in the community that residents of BedStuy and the Greater Central Brooklyn area look forward to every year. The 2024 festival theme, “BedStuy Legends and Legacies” will spark dialogue through artistic creations by local artists highlighting BedStuy BIPOC heros/sheros and movements that transformed the neighborhood. Come experience the incredible, high quality local art and a celebration of the vibrancy of the BedStuy community on Saturday, July 27th! STooPS is a conduit for community building and intentional artistic experimentation in (un)conventional venues that fosters meaningful interactions between artists and neighbors.
