Superhero Clubhouse (SHC) is a creative community building environmental and climate justice making theater to cultivate hope, and inspire a thriving future. We stage original performances, provide creative resources for communities, and bring together diverse collaborators from all walks of life to practice critical thinking and empathy. We aim to empower individuals and communities to imagine, discuss, and build a regenerative, equitable future. Climate change presents an unprecedented opportunity for people to unite across disciplines and cultures to build a thriving, resilient, and just society. Beyond creating original performances, our programs include original eco-theater productions; our Big Green Theater eco-playwriting program for public school students; Creative Workshops that foster collaborative responses to environmental crises; and Fellowships that result in new works on environmental justice and public showcases. We bring together students, scientists, artists, organizers, teachers, and policy-makers, fostering creative expression, critical thinking, and empathy around climate justice. By embracing varied perspectives and skills, we create a cohesive vision for the future and act as a bridge between NYC communities to model a regenerative society in response to the climate crisis.
