"otherland: a sapling” is a multidisciplinary ritual and workshop series to explore grief as a catalyst for radical self acceptance and intersectional liberation. rooted by a chamber-folk song cycle of anthems for historically unsung communities - the work weaves movement, film, storytelling, various healing modalities and site specific installation to invite audiences to hold space for our grief, experience the inner transformation that takes place in the darkness of a cave and collectively move into the light. The workshop series will engage QTBIPOC youth + adults in Brooklyn to learn to love ourselves and build with others while living in a country that is reckoning with its poisoned roots. Through music, writing, and embodied healing practices, participants will be offered a safe space to reconnect with themselves, creative channels to heal their inner worlds and collectively draw from our spectrum of experiences to build a map towards harmony between each other and the earth.
