Streetwear has the power to inspire, forge optimism, and instigate action. This is the ethos behind the Community Engagement arm of the PDGang Design Collaborative. The Peppeh Dem Gang was founded by Cy Nakpodia, a Brooklyn-based professional creative and cultural entrepreneur. The collective uses a T-shirt line to increase visibility of cultural value and change stereotypes about Africa and its Diaspora by promoting urban African experiences. Cy is currently the Digital Design Initiatives Director in the Office of Information Technology at CUNY, where she provides design expertise to ensure complex digital initiatives are delivered in accordance with best practices of user experience.
