Summer series of live arts on the greenroofs in collaboration with world-renowned ecoliteracy scholar, Dr. Fritjof Capra | An artist-led nonprofit, we are located on the bank of heavily polluted Newton Creek in a former oil refinery—an epicenter of past environmental disasters. It seems a hopeful sign of human power to turn things around that our warehouse is also home to rooftop community gardens: a green corridor in the midst of the industrial wasteland fostering the repopulation of threatened life forms. In this extraordinary setting, we are uniquely positioned to transmit and amplify the green message through the visceral alchemy that only art can bring about: an emotional spark is more effective than a thousand lectures. Our programming connects experienced elders with answers to the young activists with the energy and will to take and demand action. For 2022, we have selected five crucial topics from Capra’s ‘Patterns of Connection; around which our artists will create site-specific works for our one-of-a-kind urban wildlife arenas: May 28 - Water Is Life: Season Opener w. Ceremonial Blessing and Dance | June 25 - Nature’s Cycles: Inti Raymi Indigenous Solstice Event w. Wawakunas | Jul 23 - Wildflower Festival: Dance, Music, Art, and Play across the roofs | Aug 27 - Breakdown, Breakthrough: Film & Performance by Indigenous Artists from the Arctics | Sep 24 -Earth Ethics: Climate Week Event
