Johanna Aenderl Ryan is a mixed-media visual artist specializing in monotypes, animations, and sculpture. She has collaborated on projects with artists in other disciplines, creating cover art for a local musician and images for a filmmaker. Johanna is also a Teaching Artist who has taught classes/workshops in both traditional and nontraditional educational settings. In 2020, she received an MFA from the New York Academy of Art. Her work has been included in group shows throughout the Northeast; including group shows at Ethan Cohen KuBE, Brooklyn Waterfront Artist Coalition, Equity Gallery, ChaShaMa Space to Present, and Cape Cod Museum of Art. She has a studio in Brooklyn.

During this course students will use watercolors and mixed media to explore the important people, places, stories, objects and experiences in their lives. Through various prompts students will learn how to paint landscapes, portraits, narrative, and still-life's. All supplies will be provided but students will be encouraged to bring in objects or photos to help with prompts. The final artwork will be a curated “journal” which will be assembled from five to ten of the most inspired works from the course.
